This Is It

As many of you may or may not know, I've been a Michael Jackson fan for 17 years. That being said, his death this past summer was incredibly difficult for me. I cried and cried and cried and went to the vigils and cried some more. It's been really really difficult for me.

So, when I heard about the "This Is It" movie, I was stoked...but skeptical. I had this gut instinct that it was going to be so over hyped and people are going to just down it left and right and it's not going to live up to anyone's expectations...........I can't believe how wrong I was.

I bought my tickets the day they went on sale, at midnight...right when they were released, I was sure it would be selling out all over the place...but apparently here in Detroit, no one wanted to go see it the day I went...ahem.

I had a prior commitment opening weekend, so I bought my tickets for the 4th of November, buying a ticket for myself and my mom. I just bought an extra in case anyone wanted to go with me, because I didn't want to ask my mom. Why? When I was going through the grieving, she was always basically telling me to "get over it"...and I realized this week why...she was worried about me and couldn't figure out why I would take a death of someone I barely knew so hard, I get it. But it did take me longer plus we have a lot of other crap going on at home, so ya know.

Anyways, my mom offered to go with me, which was sweet, because I didn't want to go alone, but my mom has a way of kinda being negative about stuff, so I was a little curious as to how she would take it. Back when I was obsessed with him and the accusations came out, I didn't believe them, but she did...and all the talking I heard her say about him kinda swayed me to think I wasn't allowed to like him, ya know? So anyways, we go to the theater...and I was really really nervous. It was weird. I've never been nervous to see a movie. I was worried about what I would see and if I'd be let down.

We pick out seats, which was easy since we were the only ones in the theater...fun. So finally about 5 more people come in...whatever, at least no one will spoil it or anything, ya know? Movie starts...and I already lose it...stupid emotions...lol But right away, you're captivated...his presence was astounding. It felt like he was right in the room with me...well, he was, but you know. It felt like he was alive, in front of me, on a stage, performing for little old me.

The movie flew by...it was the fastest 2 hours of my life...and I caught myself thinking "God, I got to get tickets to see this concert"...and caught myself feel the urge to clap after a song ended, like I was right there...it was surreal. My mom didn't really say anything, nor did I. I cried at the beginning because of the commentary from his dancers...all was recorded prior to his death. It was sad and heartbreaking that they didn't get to fulfill their and his dream.

The movie ended with him performing "Man In The Mirror"..the 1 song since his death that took me the longest to get through without crying. It always got to me, even back in the day. It brought me to tears, and full on sobbing for a good minute. My mom, again didn't say anything...

Finally, the credits start rolling, everyone in the theater exits, and my mom and I are still sitting there, watching the credits...I'm trying to dry my tears and she still isn't saying much...which is odd if you know my mom. ;) The credits end and my mom says "you ready to leave, or you need a second?" I replied with "lets go"...we get to my car and she goes "what did you think?" and I asked her the same...she blurts "It was fucking amazing. He is such a god damned genius. It really makes you respect him so much more" and she continued on and on and on...mind you, my mom was a fan of the Jackson 5, but I felt she only tolerated him for my sake, but this changed everything. She was seriously as blown away as I was.

The movie is by far the best thing I've ever seen in my life. If you aren't a fan, you will immediately change your mind. He was and will forever be a genius, he knew his music inside and out and no one will ever surpass or come close to the man he was. We didn't just lose an amazing musician, we lost an amazing human being.

If any other fans are still struggling with his death, I urge you to see this movie. After my last cry at the end, I've had a feeling of rejoice, and a feeling of relief. Like, this was my closure. This is what I needed. This is it.

Bare Minerals Peace & Love Sampling Offer.

Saw this on a fellow YouTuber's video list the other day. FREE Bare Minerals sample & baby buki brush. (which is adorable, btw). All you had to pay was shipping...at $3.95. (+tax)

Bargain, eh?...kinda. I paid exactly $4.19 and I got about 1/4 of a teaspoon to work with. I'm HOPING it's enough to cover my face.

Annnnnnywho...here are some pictures to show the sizes...I couldn't get a good picture of the amount, but I mean...can't complain...it was technically free.

Shipping was hella fast though. Hella fast. I ordered it at like 4:30 est Friday, June 5, and it got here today, Monday June 8. Considering the weekend, that's quick...and that it took 2 weeks to get my www.cherryculture.com order in...yeah. That sucked.

But if you want to try the Bare Minerals foundation, here's a great way to do so.

NYX sale stuff.

So, I totally broke down when NYX was having their half off sale...I admit. I almost didn't go for it until I saw cherryculture.com offer free shipping...totally sucked me right in.

So, I received my order today, I placed the order 2 Friday's ago. I think shipping was fair, since we had the Memorial Day weekend going on.

I only got 3 things, and my total came to a whopping $5, but hey...I'm on a budget, alright? :)

So, first off, I got these kick ass false lashes. I'm loving them. They're wicked.
Originally priced at $4, I got them for $2. A steal.

Then, I got what everyone on YouTube goes wild about, the Candy Glitter Liners in Silver.I was a little concerned, since most glittery liners take a lot of piling on to get the sparkly pay off, but not with these. 1 good swipe and it was uber intense glam-rock sparkle. ...just what I love.

Then, just to round it out, I got a round lip gloss in pink. It's VERY pigmented. It's HOT pink....HOT...not too crazy about the color on me, but it is a great product, none the less. Here is a swatch of the liner & gloss.

$ Store Haulin.

I didn't get a hell of a lot, but I found some bargains.

I don't know if it's a nationwide chain, or what, but there are a bunch of them here in Michigan. It's called "Dollar Tree". They have a website where you can locate a store near you at www.dollartree.com

I picked up 3 things, and the great thing about Dollar Tree is that EVERYTHING is $1...not just a few things here and there...it's a true dollar store.

I picked up some cotton rounds...now I've gotten this brand before but they weren't textured like these are. They're just plain old cotton rounds, but I didn't realize they were this way until I got home. I'm hoping they do just as well in makeup removal as their counterparts.

Then, I went on to the makeup aisle. Another great thing about this chain, is they sell discontinued name brand stuff. Nothing wrong with the products, just overflow of other retailers and things like that. Mine carry Revlon, LA Colors, Covergirl & today, I found Maybelline.

This reminded me of a shimmery sister to the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils. They're called "Crystal Glitters" and they're an eyeshadow pencil. The one I got was called "Glass Slipper". It goes on real smooth and white, but there is a LOT of shimmer to it...I'm going to try it out tomorrow as a base and let y'all know the verdict.

Then, as the summer rolls around, I wanted something else to do with my hair besides throwing it up in a pony tail. And since, I don't like blowdrying my hair in the summer time, it usually air dries something crazy and get uber frizzy. I've been attempting to scrunch my hair, but nothing I buy seems to work for me. So I picked this up...I figured, it's $1 and if I can't use it someone else can.

It's Garnier Fructis Bold It Power Putty. I used it when I got home to dry hair and I already see some waving, and holding. I can only imagine when I use it on my damp hair tomorrow.

And, since today is May 15, I decided, what the hell, and went to www.cherryculture.com and picked up some NYX products 50% off with free shipping. I only picked out 3 things, but the total was $10 before the discount. I got a pink lip gloss, some falsies and the candy glitter liner in silver. Can't wait to get it!

2nd day of QHMJM

So, last night was my 2nd day of using the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. I also used a tiny bit on a blemish yesterday from around 6pm to 9pm to dry it out. So far, my face is clearing up! And it's only day 2! The blemish is almost COMPLETELY gone!

I'm going to continue on until Saturday, that will be 1 week and see if it gets any better.

5-9-09 Collective Haul w/ reviews.

So, we (my bestie, Grace & I) went on a bit of a shopping spree yesterday. And here's what I came home with.

-I finally broke down and got the Rimmel "Sexy Curves" mascara. ...I'm not a HUGE fan of this...yet. Sometimes, it takes me a while. I've had it for a week now, and it's ok...it's not like amazing, but it works. It does hold curls well, I'll give it that.

-Now, this isn't pictured. My camera is dead and I've had to surf the web for images, but I got the Target Brand makeup remover, comparable to the Neutrogena Oil Free makeup remover. I LOVE this product. I got it for around $4.22 and it works really really well. I had previously been using the Wet 'n' Wild makeup remover and that stuff sucked. Horrible product. Waterproof stuff didn't budge with it, but the Target brand works amazingly. However, it claims to be oil free and to leave no residue, but it does. There is definitely a residue after use...but if you can live with that, I would buy it. :)

-Then we went to Sally's Beauty Supply and I finally got something I've been DYING to try. The Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque. It claims to dry up acne and reduced enlarged pores. I used it last night per directions on the back of the tub and it was so nice and refreshing. The smell is similar to a stick of the Wrigley's Spearmint chewing gum. Very nice. It wasn't uncomfortable in the least and it came off easily with warm water. So far today, I've not noticed a difference, but it's been 1 day...so we'll see within the week how well it works.

-Then, I also picked up some Ardell lashes. I got the "Wispies" (pictured is the demis, I know). I've yet to try them all day, but I tried the on and they're pretty nifty. I think I'm going to try them tomorrow.

-Then, we proceeded to Ulta. We were browsing for a good hour in there and I had nothing in my hands until I was about to walk out. I saw this at the front. A Revlon 1" straightener for $9.99...AND IT'S PINK! It is adorable. It has 25 heat settings and heats up in 30 seconds. Awesome. I used it yesterday and so far, so good.

-Then, the find of the day! We went to the T.J. Maxx...and, honestly, I HATE T.J. Maxx...it's almost impossible to walk through without running over something. But...if you dig and dig and dig through the scattered clothes and opened boxes of products, you may find a steal. And that's what happened to me! I was, again, about to walk out, when I stumbled upon this beauty. They had about 5 of them, and I almost peed with delight. It is the "Too Faced World Domination Tour " boxed set. It includes 8 eye shadows, a blush, a shimmer powder, a bronzing powder, 2 eyeliners, 2 brow powders and 6 lipglosses. And you wanna know how much I paid for this gem?...$12.99!!!! All of those amazing products for less than $15...hell, less than $30! What a steal! The shadows blend amazingly well and the lipglosses are great.

So, all in all, I had a great haul. :) Very happy with all of my products.

First attempt at a toner.

So I've heard some things about toners on the Makeup world on YouTube.

A lot of people say that it's important to use a toner in order to ensure you get all of the makeup off of your face...especially useful if you use foundations and powders on your face, or anything else that may clog a pore.

I, myself, am turning into an avid skincare freak out of nowhere. I've always suffered from mild to severe acne since about my 7th grade year. I have really oily skin and breakouts are inevitable in my life. I've tried Proactiv...I've tried Acne Free...and just about everything else.

I use the Clean & Clean Morning Burst facial cleanser in the morning in the shower and about every other day, I use the facial scrub from that line. Then at night, I use a cream cleanser on my face, as well as an oil free acne wash (both are Equate brands from Wal-Mart). And today, I purchased my toner.

I got the Olay brand "refreshing toner". And I will warn you, the smell is pretty harsh...and it's first 2 ingredients are alcohol and witch's hazel...both of which, I've heard aren't amazingly great for you, BUT, in my case, with the acne...I could use a little bit of drying out.

So I tried it for the first time tonight, and I couldn't believe how much makeup I wasn't getting! I cleanse twice for Pete's sake! But, nonetheless...I will keep using it and give updates as to how it works for me.

So, one of my newest videos..."JUST HICCUPS"..the outtakes to my Fat Tuesday look...is doing amazingly well.

Over 400 views.

Who knew my pain would be so successful?

I LOVE Pure Ice Nail Polishes!

Looking for a cheap nail polish?...one that isn't goopy, runny, and dries quickly with great coverage?

Look no farther, my friends. Pure Ice, sold at Wal-Mart for $1.97 is the best nail polish I've used.

I've used the Wet 'n' Wild polishes, but they chip uber fast...not these! Very long lasting with amazing coverage. 2 coats...that's all.

So, there's a sequel to "Waiting".

And they didn't include Dane Cook!? What!!?!?!?!? lol

"Waiting" was a pretty goofy, off the wall flick...they show it on Comedy Central a lot...but I got mine off of Amazon for like .99 cents.

But I'm a massive Cook fan, and that's primarily why I bought it to begin with.

But anyways...the sequel looks just as stupid as the original..called "Still Waiting" and it brings back some of the old cast. But this time, instead of taking place in a familiar "Beningans" like location...it takes place in a "Hooters" like location, called "Ta-Tas".

Yeah...why bother, you ask? Sheer boredom is all I can come up with.

New Video.

So, I posted a new video to my YouTube. It's a wink and a nudge to the "51 Things" video. I condensed it, though. I wanted to be able to explain why the hell I have half of the shit I have in my room. lol
